The start is given by the party known as the Cross of May (Las Cruces de Mayo). This event celebrates the Spring is a Christian tradition that is to be installed in strategic points of the town of Cross covered with flowers and resulting in a competition involving nearly eighty cross.
Then the support of the flowered patios (Patio de Córdoba). Forty patios spread across parts of the Jewish quarter, the Axerquía, el Alcázar Viejo, Santa Marina, Costanilla, San Agustín, San Lorenzo, Santiago and San Pedro of old Córdoba open their doors to visitors who can enjoy the floral decorations and perfumes learned. During the day and until dark, so you can wander the narrow streets and enjoy the patios and balconies of the houses in bloom, the smell of jasmine and orange blossom while listening to flamenco music and, why not enjoy a wine of Jerez in booths set up for the occasion.
This month's festivities ended with the Feria de Cordoba (Feria de Nuestra Señora de la Salud). This feria dates to the reign of Sancho IV, in the year 1284, granted the city of Cordoba the privilege of two annual fairs which brought together traders from all over Spain.
La Feria de Cordoba usually takes place the last week of May and now takes place near the Guadalquivir river, in the ferial park called El Arenal. This event is characterized by popular music sevillana that apply to dance connoisseurs respecting the well-known rule that determines the graceful movement of the hand: "I take the apple, I eat the apple, I throw the apple." This is an opportunity for women to showcase their pretty typical flamenco dress. The feria is also wine, parades of Andalusian horses and, of course, bullfights.
