Anyone wishing to visit a foreign city like Montreal has to be well informed in advance to better plan their stay. How long will we stay? What places do we visit? What type of trip we want to achieve? A strictly tourist travel? A journey of adventure? A dive in urban areas in a teeming population that wants to know? And most importantly, where to live? Find an accommodation requires careful planning to avoid each other surprises, stay less pleasant than ideal and cost way too high. How to find a hotel room in Montreal so we do not know this city and the various tourist guides seem to give a formal and general information too?
All areas of a city as large are not necessarily recommended for tourists. Some places that are only residential frankly without interest or charm. Others are just too far from the centers of activity.
Some hotels, although located in the heart of urban action, do not justify the exorbitant prices they charge for a room in which we only sleep.
So how do you choose? You have to know first the interests of Montreal.
Make no mistake, if you look at the guides, it may well visit the important sites and they advise us to completely miss the real life of Montreal. The main interest of Montreal is not in its monuments and its archaeological sites and historic Montreal does not vibrate in the past but by its people.
Leave aside the traditional circuits recommended by the guides and immerse yourself in the heart of the city among its teeming population, francophone and anglophone too, multi-ethnic, festive, peaceful and quiet even in crowds and welcoming without being intrusive. Some neighborhoods in the heart of the city are home to this vibrant population. Find a hotel room in Montreal in one of those places full of charm and you will taste really the life of French America.
