Phuket has two major markets, one on the south side of Th Ranong, near the city center, the other on the north side of Ong Sim Phai Th, southeast of downtown. The first dates back to the days when pirates, Indians, Chinese, Malays and Europeans traded in Phuket, where the presence of a great variety of sarongs and fabrics from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and of India.
