The first edition of Red Bull Air Race held in Barcelona in 2006 was attended by 1.3 million people which had made the event the city which brought together the largest number of spectators. Three years later, the Red Bull Air Race is back in force in the Catalan capital in an event that will close the championship, 3 and 4 October. It also represents the culmination of Aviation Week, an event that the city wants to strengthen this year.
The inclusion of Barcelona in the calendar of events in the competition air is confirmed on the official website of the World Championship Red Bull Air Race, which means the Catalan capital as the last step of a journey started on 17 and 18 April Abu Dhabi (UAE), then San Diego (United States), Windsor, Ontario (Canada), Budapest (Hungary) and Porto (Portugal).
This year's edition consists of six tests, two fewer than in 2008 that included championship races in cities like Detroit, London, Rotterdam and Perth and not included in the program in 2009 during which 15 reckless drivers go on to impress the public of the Catalan metropolis.
Barcelona is a city of rich cultural, historical and tourist. The architecture of Antonio Gaudi, the site of the 1992 Olympic Games, the headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean added to the beauty of the city, its pleasant Mediterranean climate and its location by the sea make it a destination first choice for a holiday on the Costa Brava.
If you wish to extend a little over the summer, take a few days in October, take a holiday in Barcelona and visit this extraordinary city while enjoying the spectacle of the exit Red Bull Air Race.
